 A corkscrew can come in very handy when it comes to opening up a coconut. Once again, start by finding the 2 or 3 indentations. Place the corkscrew in the center of them and move it around until you find the softest place where you can insert it. Press it down and twist firmly. Then pull down the levers of the corkscrew.

Repeat the process so there are several indentations which span further than the radius of the corkscrew. Turn it over and drain the juice from the coconut. With a clever, cut along the seam of the coconut. Use the back side of the clever to hit it a few times before you cut into it.

Pay attention for any signs that the coconut is cracking. That is the weaker part of the coconut and where you want to focus your attention. Continue to whack this area with the back of the clever and then try to pull it apart. Break it apart into pieces. You can enjoy the meat from the inside with ease.
